The Norton Rose Canada Classroom Grand Opening

The long-awaited spectacular Norton Rose Canada Classroom will be up and running in September 2012. The former open area in the third floor of Fauteux Hall has been filled in and in its place now stands a 21st century auditorium.

Thanks to the generosity of Norton Rose Canada, construction began in July 2011 on the ultra-modern 89-seat lecture hall in the heart of Fauteux Hall.

?We at Norton Rose are proud to have many University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law alumni as members of our firm and are therefore extremely pleased to be able to give back to the school through this donation.? The University of Ottawa has provided an excellent base from which many of our firm members have launched their careers; we are happy to support the school?s ability to continue to provide a first-rate learning environment for its students.?

Located next to the Tsampalieros Atrium, the classroom is partially transparent and acoustically soundproof with state-of-the-art multimedia built in.? This new space is complemented by a new staircase that connects the main foyer to the third floor, as well as refurbishments to the main foyer itself.? Stepping forward into the future of construction, the University of Ottawa is pleased to highlight that the classroom is fully accessible and incorporated many green materials in the design.

The new room helps alleviate the serious campus-wide classroom shortage, and help us keep most law courses in Fauteux. ?

Check the Common Law website for information on the grand unveiling ceremony this fall.
