?This song needs no introduction,? Katy Perry said as she closed last week?s American Foundation for AIDS Research (amFAR) Inspiration Gala. ?This song? ended up being a cover of Bonnie Raitt?s ?I Can?t Make You Love Me,? which has also inspired plenty of American Idol auditions and performances since the tear-jerking ballad was released in 1991. Watch Katy?s take on it below.
Perry took a simple approach to Raitt?s song ? more straightforward, even, than her cover of Al Green?s ?Let?s Stay Together? at a President Obama fundraiser. Earlier that evening however, when this Billboard?s Woman of the Year auctioned off a signed guitar for $32,000, she couldn?t help but to offer an extra incentive.
?I?ll have sex with you too,? Perry said during the bidding, before she clarified: instead of sex, she was actually offering to take the winning bidder out to West Hollywood gay bar the Abbey. So while Perry may relate to the overall sentiment of Raitt?s song, she?ll certainly try her best to support a good cause.
