New Mexico program welcomes Cerrillos native

Sunday, Nov. 18 Cerrillos Hills State Park will welcome Cerrillos native Gabriel Sahd, to the centennial room at the visitor center, at 3:00 p.m. for a Chautauqua program.

Mr. Sahd will portray Jos? Aaron Librado Gurul, a 16-year-old peon from Placitas, N.M. The boy became a wool drover on a journey from Santa Fe to Kansas City in 1867.

?Gabriel Sahd?s family has been in Cerrillos for generations,? Cerrillos Hills State Park Manager Sarah Wood said. ?We?re pleased to have him as a speaker through the New Mexico Humanities Council Chautauqua program.?

The program is free and open to the public.

The Cerrillos Hills State Park Visitor Center is located at 37 Main St. Cerrillos, N.M. ,16 miles south of Santa Fe and 3 miles north of Madrid off New Mexico State Highway 14.
