ICMIF member, Seguros Unimed, has been named the best provider of supplementary health insurance in Brazil in a recent performance index (the ?ndice de Desempenho da Sa?de Suplementar or IDSS), carried out and published by the Brazilian National Supplementary Health Agency (Ag?ncia Nacional de Sa?de Suplementar).
Many Brazilians opt to take out such health insurance for their personal needs and purchase healthcare plans through insurers, such as Seguros Unimed, which are regulated by the National Supplementary Health Agency.
The IDSS criterion takes into account four points:
- healthcare
- user satisfaction
- financial performance
- operational structure
?Year on year we have achieved ever increasing growth at Seguros Unimed. Seguros Unimed is very proud of this achievement because it is a recognition of our efforts not only financially and structurally but most importantly in the vocation of caring for people, our main objective? ? says Dr. Rafael Moliterno Neto (CEO).
Dr. Moliterno was recently elected the Chair of the Board of ICMIF/Americas. Dr. Moliterno has many years of experience in the insurance industry and is dedicated to the cooperative and mutual insurance model. This year Dr. Moliterno represented ICMIF at the annual conference of the Latin American Association of Insurance Supervisors (ASSAL), a policy and training forum for all Latin America insurance regulators, which took place in Quito, Ecuador.
Seguros Unimed is among the largest providers in Brazil for health insurance (4th), life insurance (13th) and retirement (14th) and serves over 6.1 million members.
