Product Review and Giveaway: Wise Decor Wall Decals

BTHM WTFY 2012 button I have a Cricut, I have the vinyl, but have I made even ONE wall decal?

Nope....such is the life when you have the urge to create, but no time!

So when Wise Decor offered bloggers a chance to review one of their vinyl wall decals, I knew it was the spur I needed to see how I like putting them on my walls!

Wise Decor allows you to personalize your home decor easily, in minutes, with a quote or words that mean something to YOU and YOUR family! They are perfect for those hard to reach places, where hanging letters or a frame is near to impossible, they won't fall off the wall when a door is slammed, they can go on any surface, including mirrors, can be customized, are easy to remove and reapply!

They have quotes that fir kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, kids rooms, family rooms, nurseries, entry ways, and bathrooms. They have old adages, modern quotes, scripture references, humor, subway style quotes, and even Chinese letters! The range in size from small to entire wall size (like trees), so whatever your need, they can fill it! Their idea pages will keep you amazed and thinking of new ways to decorate your home!

I love this French saying (live well, love much, laugh often), for a photo wall- it's very Louisiane:

For me, one of the oddest locations in our home to decorate has always been the upstairs entry and landing area. It has a full wall on one side, with a half wall and landing on the other. Well the landing area has a balustrade that has held my western saddle (which blended with the Western decor). With the bookshelves on the landing, their hasn't been much room to decorate the walls, so I've been at a stump on what to do with the facing wall, that you see first when you go to exit downstairs. Understand that the wall is basically the upper wall of the second story, so getting TO it has been a major problem, as well.

So the hall has been vexing me for years, and when I went through the offerings from Wise Decor, I suddenly had the PERFECT idea of how to change the hallway, modernize it, and make it US. While I share a lot of personal info on this blog, one of the things I haven't shared it hubby and I separating. It has been an adjustment for all of us, and like most women who go through it, I have been purging and redefining our living spaces, to better suit Kiddo and I. This includes PAINTING. If anyone can tell me the logic in that, let me know, I'm going nuts trying to settle on a color for the craft/upstairs living room...LOL...

So anyhoo, when I saw the quote from Walt Disney, in their Motivational Quotes, ?I KNEW it was what I needed to not only inspire Kiddo, but to remind me of what the future can hold.

isn't that a superb thought to remind yourself every day when you get up and head out for the day? To take the dream/thought of the day and do something with it. Make it your own and succeed with it.?

As I said we have issues with the hall, from the height, and also from the plaster. Unfortunately the people before us redid the house, but the plaster work was done quickly and pretty sloppily. So it's either take it down and star over, or patch where needed, and work around the 'ridges'. So while the quote came to me perfectly centered, we realized that we were going to need to adjust the location, to accomodate the wall issues. So while Dad went and got his adjustable ladder, that can work on stairs, I cut the quote into lines and then with his help, fit them to the wall.

It was beyond easy to apply. In fact, I helped and Dad did most of the work! AHA, a plan! Heh heh! You can see a how-to video on the Wise Decor website, but basically we taped the lines to the wall with painters tape, Got them were we needed them, then started with the top line. All you have to do is to peel off the backing paper (very easy as the letters stick to the top paper). Then you press the top paper/letters back down, and use the supplied plastic?squeegee to rub the letters into the wall. Then you peel off the top paper and you are DONE. Seriously it took us like 5 minutes to complete the installation, once we had the ladder in place! I showed you the close up, but here is how it looks in place:

Yup- I know, need some more paint in a couple of spots- considering I painted it without a ladder, I thought I had done good! The hall leans to the dark side, and I didn't see where additional paint was needed, until I used the flash!

And yes, even though I modernized the hall, with a gallery of pictures on the left. I decided to place the picture that Kiddo won second place for last year at a school district contest, and the photograph that won me best of show at the county fair to the wall. Kiddo adores creating any type of craft, so to win a ribbon was beyond exciting for her last year! And being a successful photographer was always one of those wild dreams of mine, so to me the pictures illustrate the quote perfectly! AND as Kiddo said, there is room for more pictures underneath and around it! Course she also said by having the saddle there, meant I had to make her dream of horse ownership come true to....Can't argue with 5 year old logic can you? LOL

While I know I could make the wall decals, it was SO easy and simple to open the box and install the decal, that I am looking at ordering more decals from Wise Decor, and saving my time (and probable aggravation-the Cricut and I have a love/hate relationship)! You can get reward points from every order you refer, and that YOU do, to get discounts on future orders! Plus they have newsletter specials and coupons. Here is another decal I'm thinking about for Kiddo's room:

I think it should be in every little girl's room, and stay there til she leaves for college! Course, as the lettering removable, she can take it with her to her dorm too, to inspire her in her studies!?

AND they even have CUSTOM decals- you can pick your letting font, color and size! Just use their Design Customizer! I used the Customizer to change two lines into three, with my review decal, as it better fit the space. The decal came out perfectly!?

I hope you will be as impressed with Wise Decor as I was! And to help you along with that, Wise Decor is offering a lucky BTHM reader a?$50 gift card to help you choose your first wall decal, so you can get addicted to them too! Lucky you!

The entries are a little different for this one!
