MacLennan picked up the keys to her 2013 Ford Focus Titanium Frida, from Bolton?s Fines Ford. The well-known dealership has long been a supporter of community and youth programs and is the main sponsor for Caledon?s DARE?(Drug Abuse Resistance Education)?program for students.
MacLennan said it?s quite a step up from her 1998 Ford Escort.
Canada?s gold medal winner on the trampoline at the London Games hasn?t had much time to rest since her return home, being in the media spotlight.
She said the neatest event she participated in was throwing out the opening pitch at a recent game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers. The athlete admitted she was nervous, since her pitching skills aren?t up to par, but she managed to get the ball across home plate.
MacLennan has also helped open the Canadian National Exhibition and the Toronto Scotiabank Buskerfest, in support of Epilepsy Toronto. She enjoyed the athletic feats of the event, including acrobats and tumblers.
It?s been a ?whirlwind??for her lately, but MacLennan said she enjoys sharing her experiences with people at every opportunity, making her the perfect ambassador for Canadian athletes and her sport of trampoline. She is always accommodating to the public, and took time to meet with staff at Fines Ford and pose for photos with her prized gold medal.
Admittedly, it?s been quite of an adjustment for her, but her colleagues and strong family support have helped guide her through this period of stardom. She said she managed to get away with family at a cottage recently to catch her breath.
MacLennan is getting ready to head off to the University of Toronto, for her two-year masters of exercise science program. She explained the course involves the socio-cultural aspects of sports.
Everything that has happened in her life since the huge Olympic victory has been a surprise, according to her mother Jane. When out in public with Rosie, congratulations flow Jane?s way, but she?s quick to point out it?s Rosie?s achievement. Her daughter didn?t do it for fame, but personal goals of perfecting a routine and showcasing a program.
It all came together at the right time, Jane said, adding Rosie knew heading into the medal round she needed more height, air time and an explosive routine to capture gold.
Rosie has already started training, with her mind set on defending her gold medal at the 2016?Summer Games in?Rio. Now that she has an Olympic triumph under her belt, she will be prepared for all that the next Games bring.
