LAS VEGAS - Over the last 10 years, Mirko Filipovic put on dozens of tremendous shows for fans of mixed martials, so the ending at UFC 137 was fitting.
The 37-year-old brought it and tried to slug it out with Roy Nelson, but the younger fighter's well-rounded game took over in the second and he scored a TKO win at the 1:30 mark of third at UFC 137.
"Cro Cop" was one of the most feared fighters in the world during his time with PRIDE fighting in Japan. His run with the UFC was less than stellar, but the fans never lost their love for the Crotian kickboxer. Even tonight, the Las Vegas crowd went nuts anytime Cro Cop landed a punch or kick.
"This is going to be my final fight. I didn't make a goodbye victory," a sad Cro Cop told UFC analyst Joe Rogan. "Roy was just better tonight. I want to thank all you guys, especially the UFC fans."

Cro Cop (27-10, 4-6 UFC) was very much in the fight into the middle of the second round. Two minutes in, he rocked Nelson with a left and then got off 20-25 unanswered shots. Nelson covered up and survived, enabling him to score a very important takedown with 2:35 left.
Nelson quickly moved to side control where he worked for the dominant crucifix position. Once he got it with less than 45 seconds left, he pounded away on the helpless Cro Cop. Nelson, who came into this fight about 15-17 pounds less than previous fights, still has a good-sized belly. He used that to his advantage as he smothered the 37-year-0ld. Cro Cop survived the round, but when he rose to his feet his face was all marked up.
In the third, the Croatian's legs weren't there and he got drilled by a straight right. Cro Cop went into retreat mode. A little over minute into the round, he got dropped by a left. Nelson jumped on top, got his hooks in and flattened him out. He threw four or five bigbombs to the side of Cro Cop's head and it was stopped.
"It was awesome to fight with a legend. It's good just to be back in the 'W' column.?Cro Cop can still tear it up," Nelson said. "My game plan was to strike and mix it up so you see a little bit of everything."

New York ? The Swedish retailer will soon flood stores with clothes inspired by edgy heroine Lisbeth Salander. Brilliant marketing ? or just strange?
The image:?The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo star?Rooney Mara is already making fashion waves for her?magazine photo spreads?in costume as bisexual, computer-hacking heroine Lisbeth Salander, sporting the character's punk-goth wardrobe, severely cropped hair, and bleached blond eyebrows. Now,?Swedish clothier H&M has?announced?that?fashionistas around the world will be able to emulate Salander's style, too. H&M's?new fashion line, inspired by the upcoming film adaptation of Steig Larsson's best-selling murder mystery,?will be sold in select H&M stores and online starting Dec. 14, a week before the film debuts. The collection of tattered jeans and cropped leather jackets was conceptualized by the movie's costume designer, Trish Summerville, who calls it a "more fashionable version" of the film's wardrobe. (See an image below.)
The reaction: These clothes really do produce that "quintessential Lisbeth look," says Christopher Rosen at Moviefone, though her "bleached eyebrows, tattoos, and piercings" are probably not included. It at least "makes perfect cross-promotional sense," says Sarah Anne Hughes at The Washington Post. Once the film hits theaters, girls everywhere will likely be inspired to ape Salander's fierceness. Still, the line is "slightly absurd" ? Salander isn't exactly a "fashionista." And let's be honest, says Kevin Jagernauth at Indie Wire. More-or-less identical clothes can be found on "your average rack at Hot Topic." See for yourself:

STOCKHOLM (Reuters) ? Social networking site Facebook is to build its first data center outside the United States in the northern Swedish town of Lulea, awarding an initial construction contract of $121 million, the companies said on Thursday.
The data center, set to be the largest of its kind in Europe, will take advantage of the climate in Lulea, among the coldest in Sweden, to cool tens of thousands of servers.
"Those servers basically are what allow us to support all of the Facebook products for our users. Friend requests, tags, user updates will be accessed through this facility," Tom Furlong, Facebook's director of site operations, told Reuters.
"It will mostly serve European users and ideally improve performance for them," he added in a telephone interview.
Swedish construction group NCC said it was part of a joint venture with two U.S. companies, DPR Construction and Fortis Construction, which had won a contract of 800 million crowns ($121 million) for the first of three server buildings in the data center. NCC's share was 400 million.
The data center will be the northernmost of its size on Earth. It is Facebook's first in Europe and will serve more than 800 million site users.
Facebook said in a statement it chose Lulea, despite its remoteness some 1,000 km north of Swedish capital Stockholm, because its cold climate would be good for cooling and that it could provide environmentally friendly hydro-power.
The three server buildings will have an area of 28,000 square meters (300,000 square ft) each. Construction takes place in three phases and begins instantly.
"The first building is to be operational within a year and the entire facility is scheduled for completion by 2014," the company added. "About 300 full-time positions will be required during the first three years."

Cheerleaders at Gilbert High School in Arizona were banned from wearing their breast cancer fundraiser t-shirts. The shirts read "Feel for Lumps, Save your Bumps." Some parents think the school is being needlessly reactionary. This isn't the only dress code issue that parents and students struggle with. Here are some of the items that schools have forbidden, along with parental reactions to those rules.
"Feel for Lumps, Save your Bumps" t-shirts
Gilbert principal Charles Santa Cruz said that while the school encourages October Breast Cancer Awareness activities, the "Feel for Lumps" shirts were inappropriate and not authorized by the school. The cheerleaders had made the t-shirts to collect money for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. They planned to wear them at football games after school hours. Booster mom, Gayleen Skowronek says, "I think it's hypocritical they would approve a fundraiser for breast-cancer research but they won't approve a shirt to bring awareness to breast cancer." Her cheerleader daughter says, "We're not saying anything a doctor wouldn't say." Other parents say that while they don't disagree with the principal, they think he's making too big of a deal over it.
"I Heart Boobies" breast cancer bracelets
Earlier this year, two Easton, Pa., middle-schoolers Brianna Hawk and Cayla Martinez were suspended for wearing Keep a Breast Foundation bracelets reading, "I (heart) Boobies." The school had banned them, saying the presented a sexual double entendre. Several boys had touched the girls inappropriately, prompted by the bracelets, officials said. The girls, with their parents, filed a lawsuit with the ACLU and won. In response to the lawsuit, a Wisconsin middle-schooler, Kaisey Jenkins and her mom, Caran Braun, challenged their school's no-"boobies" bracelet policy. The school outlawed the bracelets after some parents and faculty complained that the jewelry was inappropriate for children.
"Rebel Moms" school pride t-shirts
Last year, a parent booster group, "Rebel Moms," in Willoughby, Ohio, designed and sold a school pride t-shirt. The t-shirts showed the word "Rebels" (the South High School mascot) with a Confederate flag. The school has an ongoing rivalry with North High School. Officials forbid the sale of the shirts, but only after the mothers had sold 250 of them. The school made the parents redesign the shirts, saying the Confederate flag is offensive to some students.
Pajamas at school
In some schools, it's not just students who have to follow dress code; parents do too. Several UK schools stated that parents should not wear pajamas to school, even when they are simply dropping students off. School officials say sleepwear belongs at home, not in public. This issue sparked debate over whether schools can dictate what parents wear in their vehicles or on school property.
Some schools are banning pajamas for students' apparel also. Students have been allowed to wear pajamas to school for certain school spirit events, but some schools deem pajamas too casual. Parents are mixed on this one: some feel pajamas should not be worn in public, while others say pajamas at school are no big deal.

CAIRO ? He often looked like a comical buffoon, standing before audiences, regaled in colorful robes, spouting words that most of the world considered nonsense.
Yet the death of Moammar Gadhafi was a milestone in modern Arab history, in some ways more significant than the overthrow of lesser autocrats in Tunisia and Egypt.
Gadhafi was the last of the old-style Arab strongmen ? the charismatic, nationalist revolutionaries who rose to power in the 1950s and 1960s, promising to liberate the masses from the shackles of European colonialism and the stultifying rule of the Arab elite that the foreigners left behind after World War II.
He was swept aside by a new brand of revolutionary ? the leaderless crowds organized by social media, fed up with the oppressive past, keenly aware that the rest of the world has left them behind and convinced that they can build a better society even if at the moment, they aren't sure how.
Gadhafi was the last of a generation of Arab leaders such as Gamal Abdel-Nasser of Egypt, Hafez Assad of Syria and Saddam Hussein of Iraq who emerged from poverty, rising to the pinnacle of power either through the ranks of the military or the disciplined, conspiratorial world of underground political organizations.
None of the latter crop of Arab autocrats, including Assad's son Bashar, Yemen's Ali Abdullah Saleh and even Egypt's colorless, ousted president Hosni Mubarak, could rival them in their heyday in terms of charisma, flair, stature and power.
Their model was Nasser, the towering champion of Arab unity who ousted Western-backed King Farouk in 1952 and inspired Arab peoples with fiery speeches broadcast by Egyptian radio from Iraq to Mauritania.
But Nasser's dreams of Arab unity and social revival crumbled in defeat in the 1967 Arab-Israeli War, when Israel seized East Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Golan Heights of Syria. Nasser died three years later, and the fellow strongmen left behind led their countries instead into a political swamp of corruption, cronyism and dictatorship now challenged by the Arab Spring.
The hallmark of the Arab strongman was unquestioned power, the use of state media to promote a larger than life image and a ruthless security network that stifled even a whiff of dissent. That worked in an age before the Internet and global satellite television which opened the eyes of the strongman's followers to a world without secret police and economic systems run by the leader's family and cronies.
The Arab political transformation is far from complete. Autocratic rulers are facing challenges from their own people in Yemen and Syria. Bahrain's Shiite majority is pressing the Sunni monarchy for reform. Rulers in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states are maneuvering to contain the Arab Spring.
Iraq is struggling to build a democracy eight years after American-led arms brought down Saddam's rule.
With Gadhafi's passing, however, a milestone has been passed. The future belongs to a different style of ruler, whoever it may be.
It may be difficult to imagine that the Gadhafi of his final years ? with his flamboyant robes, dark and curly wigs and sagging, surgically altered face ? was a trim, handsome, vigorous 27-year-old when he came to power.
as a strong and vigorous leader. Over the years he had become a caricature figure associated with grandiose dreams such as a "United States of Africa" or seizing all of Israel and sending Jews "back to Europe."
Even when he was younger, eccentricity was the mark of Gadhafi's public persona.
A generation ago, President Ronald Reagan described him as the "mad dog of the Middle East," and his fellow Arab leaders such as Egyptian President Anwar Sadat considered him a dangerous megalomaniac.
Journalists covered his speeches and international visits primarily for amusement.
Images of Gadhafi's final moments ? toupee gone, terrified, confused, powerless in the grip of men who may be about to kill him ? make the ousted tyrant appear more pitiable than powerful.
All that was far from his image when he and his comrades toppled a Western-backed monarchy in 1969 in a bloodless coup, promising to transform his poor, backwater country into a modern state.
Promising a new era for his people, Gadhafi closed a U.S. air base, forced international oil companies to hand over most of their profits from Libyan oil to the Libyan state and shook the world with his unabashed support for terrorist or insurgent movements in Northern Ireland, Palestine, Latin America, Africa and Asia.
Oil gave him a reach beyond his sparsely populated desert land and enabled him to pursue his revolutionary dreams.
In the 1980s, the lobbies of Tripoli's few hotels were populated by representatives of what the West considered the most dangerous groups on Earth ? stiff North Koreans wearing lapel buttons of their leader Kim Il-Sung, Palestinian extremists huddled over cups of sweet tea, European anarchists and revolutionaries ? all come to town to seek the oil-fueled largesse of the "Brother Leader."
While insisting that Libya was the freest nation on Earth, Gadhafi ruthlessly suppressed dissent, dispatched agents to assassinate his opponents abroad and drove thousands of Libyans into exile.
It all came crashing down in the final battle in his hometown of Sirte. A man who came to power as an Arab revolutionary and self-styled leader of the oppressed and downtrodden died a brutal and inglorious death at the hands of the people he purported to lead.

GENEVA (Reuters) ? The United Nations voiced concern on Tuesday that some of the Palestinian detainees released in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit may have not have been given any choice on where to go, which could constitute an illegal forced transfer.
The office of Navi Pillay, U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, welcomed the release but cited reports that some of the Palestinian prisoners from the West Bank may be released to the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip or abroad.
Under international humanitarian law, it is illegal to forcibly transfer war detainees or deport them to another country against their will.
Israeli soldier Shalit returned home to a national outpouring of joy on Tuesday after five years in captivity, and hundreds of Palestinian prisoners exchanged for him were greeted with kisses from Hamas leaders in the Gaza Strip.
"It was with a sense of great relief that we have received news of the agreement to exchange prisoners. We do however have concerns regarding reports that hundreds of Palestinian prisoners from the West Bank may be released to the Gaza Strip or abroad," Pillay's spokesman Rupert Colville told Reuters in response to a query.
"If in some cases this has been without the free and informed consent of the concerned individuals, this may constitute forced transfer or deportation under international law," he added. "We are not sure to what extent they consented to this."
Most of the prisoners were returned to the Gaza Strip, which is controlled by Hamas, an Islamist group that is classified as a terrorist organization by the European Union and the United States. It was not immediately clear whether some of those transferred to Gaza were loyal to Fatah, a rival Palestinian faction ruling the West Bank and led by President Mahmoud Abbas.
Many of the prisoners were convicted of deadly attacks.
CONFIDENTIAL INTERVIEWS
Over the past few days, the International Committee of the Red Cross conducted confidential interviews with all 477 Palestinian detainees being released from Israeli detention centers in this first phase of the swap, an ICRC spokesman said.
"ICRC delegates interviewed each detainee in private prior to his or her release to verify that they accepted their release," ICRC spokesman Marcal Izard told Reuters in Geneva.
But, speaking in what he said were general terms, he added: "Returning people to places other than their habitual places of residence is in contradiction to international humanitarian law.
"Choosing between staying in detention or being released to a place other than the detainee's habitual place of residence cannot be considered as a genuine expression of free will."
Once the detainees were released by Israel, the independent humanitarian agency facilitated their transport on ICRC buses --
from the Kerem Shalom crossing into the Gaza Strip via Egypt, and into Ramallah in the West Bank, he said.
"We did the transportation for humanitarian purposes," he said. "The ICRC role was limited to facilitating the movement of all the detainees."
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said on Tuesday that he expected the Israeli-Palestinian prisoner exchange to boost prospects for the wider peace process.
"With this release, it will have a far-reaching positive impact to the stalled Middle East peace process," Ban told Reuters at the end of a three-day trip to Switzerland.
"I am very encouraged by the prisoner exchange today after many many years of negotiation. The United Nations has been calling for (an end to) the unacceptable detention of Gilad Shalit and also the release of all Palestinians whose human rights have been abused all the time."
Colville said that the U.N. human rights office had "continuing concerns about the thousands of Palestinians still detained or imprisoned by Israel."
It encouraged Israel to comply fully with its international legal obligations in relation to all such detainees, "including with respect to their conditions and treatment during detention and the location of their imprisonment."
Shalit's parents Noam and Aviva made several trips to Geneva where they held talks with Pillay and senior ICRC officials to rally support for their son's release.
The ICRC said in a statement that although it welcomed the release, it regretted that its repeated requests to visit Shalit in detention and hand over family messages had been "uniformly rejected" over the five years of his imprisonment.
"And we regret that hundreds of families of Palestinians from Gaza held in Israeli places of detention were punished by being prevented from visiting their detained relatives," Juan Pedro Schaerer, the head of the ICRC delegation for Israel and the occupied territories, said in the statement.

BRUSSELS (Reuters) ? A cloud of gloom hangs over Brussels ahead of yet another summit to thrash out yet another "comprehensive strategy" to tackle a sovereign debt crisis that Europe has failed for two years to stem, and that now threatens the world economy.
Gallows humor was rife among the grandees of European integration at the annual conference of the Friends of Europe think-tank on "the state of the union" last week.
"Hopefully next year we won't be talking about Greek debt," Etienne Davignon, 79, a Belgian former European Commissioner and patriarch of the European project, joked in his closing remarks.
"Either it will have gone or we will have gone."
The opening session was billed as: "The EU's three ages: rise, decline and fall?"
The question mark was the only concession to hope.
Weary cynicism surrounds next Sunday's (October 23) summit of the 27 EU leaders, their sixth attempt this year to draw a line under the euro zone crisis that has led to bailouts of Greece, Ireland and Portugal and is now singeing Italy and Spain.
They trumpeted a "comprehensive response" back in March, but, due mainly to German caution, adopted a catalog of half-measures described by British Prime Minister David Cameron last week as "a bit too little, a bit too late".
In July, with bond market contagion spreading for the first time to Italy, the euro zone's third biggest economy, leaders of the 17-nation single currency area agreed on a second bailout for Greece involving "voluntary" writedowns for private bondholders and more powers for their EFSF rescue fund.
Traders quickly spotted that the accord would take months to implement and might be derailed in any of the 17 national parliaments that had to approve it, or by Greece's failure to achieve its fiscal targets. Confidence evaporated.
Spanish and Italian borrowing costs were driven so high that the European Central Bank had to intervene in emergency in August to buy those countries' bonds and force yields down.
After weeks of bruising debate, first in the German then in the Slovak parliament, and haggling with Finland over its demand for collateral on Greek loans, the beefed-up 440-billion-euro European Financial Stability Facility is finally ready to act.
But the goalposts have moved in the meantime. The situation has deteriorated and more radical action is now required.
MOVING TARGET
Greece has strayed off course again and doubts about whether it will ever be able to repay its debts have hardened as the country has slumped deeper into recession and public resistance to austerity measures has mounted.
Germany and its north European allies are demanding that private bondholders be made to contribute more toward a second rescue for Greece, but still on a "voluntary" basis with no losses for taxpayers or the European Central Bank.
The talk now is of building a firewall around Greece and convincing investors that other euro zone sovereigns are safe, without another ghastly round of ratifications in member states.
The key elements in the latest "comprehensive strategy" are: reducing Greece's debt and giving it longer to recover; bolstering European banks' ability to absorb losses; leveraging the rescue fund to prevent contagion to larger economies; and launching steps toward closer euro zone fiscal integration.
Yet there is scope for each of these elements to fall short, or be overtaken by events, especially with the economic growth outlook darkening as austerity measures cripple demand.
Greek debt relief may be too small to avoid a hard default. Banks may struggle to raise capital and governments fearful for their own credit ratings may equivocate about what to do if they can't raise it on the markets.
Policymakers hope to stabilize the euro zone bond market by using the EFSF to offer partial loss insurance to investors buying new Spanish or Italian bonds.
This may not be enough to restore confidence if Italy's chaotic politics, compounded by the economic slowdown, thwart austerity plans. Markets are bound to test Europe's defences.
Further credit ratings downgrades could exacerbate the crisis. If France's AAA rating were pulled into doubt due to the capital needs of its banks, heavily exposed to peripheral euro zone debt, then the entire rescue strategy could falter.
With so many "ifs", the chances of this "comprehensive strategy" being the one that does the trick are anything but certain.
Pressure for decisive action from other major economies, which dominated last weekend's G20 finance chiefs' meeting in Paris, may improve the Europeans' chance of success.
The world's treasuries and central banks are so alarmed at the risk of a financial meltdown that they may be ready to pile in to support even a shaky European plan.
European policymakers still reject the nuclear option of a mandatory restructuring of Greek debt, which would trigger a "credit event" with the payment of default insurance and send a shockwave through the financial sector.
Instead, private bondholders face a bigger "voluntary" writedown of up to 50 percent while euro zone governments and the ECB are shielded from losses on Greek debt to avoid a public backlash that would make further rescue measures impossible.
It is easier for European politicians to support banks that are unable to raise private capital than it would be to admit they had poured taxpayers' money down a Greek hole.
Radical solutions such as using the ECB as Europe's lender of last resort or issuing joint euro zone bonds, are politically taboo in Germany.
Barring such game-changers, expect the euro zone debt crisis to rumble on and on, if it doesn't explode.

Okay, so that you all hopefully get this right, here is Tezuka's *original* character sheet. I've made a few changes, added two more theme songs, and gave him different pictures. This one looked too...happy. This is how yours should look when you finish setting it up, okay?
Gender: Male
Class: D
Role: Main Protagonist
Side: His own side
Description: He has scars running all over his body, mainly on his arms, chest, and back. He has a few on his neck as well, mainly from where his collar used to be. He likes to keep his wings out, for a fast get-away if he needs it. His eyes are a lighter grey than the picture shows.
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 167 lbs
Weapon(s): Tezuka uses dual .47 magnums; Senbon; Katana
Skill(s)/Ability(s): He has all of the abilities and skills of a Class D Vampire, along with the martial arts and killing techniques he learned while training to become an assassin.
Personality: Tezuka has what most would consider a split personality. If he is with someone whom is no threat to him, he can be kind, honorable, and very likeable. He can even be loyal and protective if he considers you a friend. But if you are an enemy...he can be cold, ruthless, and a vicious killer. He portrays no mercy to those he considers his enemies, and will fight until either he dies, or his enemies die. He also will not hesitate to help someone in need.
Bio: Tezuka rarely remembers anything from his original life as a human being. The first memory that can serve as an actual memory to him is being hooked up to a very large machine, which was pumping yellow liquid into his veins, which in turn was causing him immense pain. There were men wearing masks all around him, and he couldn't make out what they were saying. He spent most of his early life as a test subject. Tezuka quickly rose to Class C at the age of ten, and for three years, was put under constant surveillance to try and figure out why he had mutated so quickly, and then just stopped. Then, without warning, he mutated again.
No vampire had ever mutated as far as he had. None of them had his abilities, his level of strength, and his senses. It was a new breakthrough that was a complete mystery to the scientists. Tezuka was the best Vampire to have ever been created, and they began his training immediately. Tezuka quickly became Japan's top assassin and Vampire. He was sent to kill any who opposed Japan, and he did it with ease.
But he couldn't help but begin to wonder. Why was he doing these things? Just because someone told him to? Tezuka found a way to remove his collar. When he did, he went underground for a year, studying. He learned just what he was, that he used to be human, what Japan was doing. Tezuka vowed that he would get revenge. And that is exactly what he's doing.
Other: Tezuka spent most of his life in a lab, and all they really taught him was killing and following orders. He doesn't know much about day-to-day society, so a lot of things confuse him.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Does your teen show normal nerves about the weekend party, or always stay home?
Nearly half of teenagers say they're shy, perhaps a bit surprising in our say-anything society. But a government study finds a small fraction of those teens show signs of a troubling anxiety disorder that can be mistaken for extreme shyness.
The report challenges criticism that the terms "social phobia" or "social anxiety disorder" medicalize normal shyness.
"Shyness is a normal human temperament," says lead researcher Dr. Kathleen Merikangas of the National Institute of Mental Health, whose teachers always noted her own childhood shyness on her report cards.
But just as it can be hard to tell when feeling sad turns into depression, "there is a blurred boundary between people who describe themselves as shy and clinically significant impairment," Merikangas adds.
The difference: The shy can be drawn out and adapt, while teens or adults with full-fledged social anxiety become so paralyzed during social situations that it interferes with everyday functioning.
"I didn't go out on dates or do any of the things that other kids did," recalls Cynthia Kipp of Tehachapi, Calif., who shared her story of years struggling with social phobia with the Anxiety Disorders Association of America. Now 48, she thinks her first anxiety symptoms began in fourth grade, when she can remember hiding under her coat in class, but worsened in high school when she tried drugs and alcohol for relief. Eventually she found treatment that worked.
The report also opens a window into the broader field of temperament research. Even garden-variety shyness worries parents, particularly fathers of boys, says Dr. Nancy Snidman of Children's Hospital Boston.
In school-age boys especially, "shyness isn't very well tolerated in the United States," says Snidman who wasn't involved with the new research.
Snidman and colleagues at Harvard Medical School have tracked infants to their college years, and know that babies who react very negatively to new people and objects tend to grow into shy children. That's not a bad thing ? caution is considered an important evolutionary adaptation.
Usually, the clinging tot does just fine as he or she grows older and finds a niche, Snidman says. Girls may think the shy teen boy is nice because he's not macho, for example, or the shy kids wind up on the school newspaper so they can write instead of do public speaking. Many outgrow their shyness.
Yet a very shy child is considered more at risk than others of later developing some type of anxiety disorder ? just as the opposite extreme, a very outgoing child, can be at greater risk for attention or conduct disorders, she says.
The new study, published by the journal Pediatrics, is based on in-person surveys of more than 10,000 U.S. teens about a variety of mental health issues. More than 6,000 of their parents were surveyed, too.
About 47 percent of the teens identified themselves as shy around peers they don't know well. More than 62 percent of parents thought their teens were shy, perhaps a reflection of parental worry.
Then Merikangas' team analyzed how many teens appeared to meet the American Psychiatric Association's criteria for social anxiety disorder or social phobia. Roughly 1 in 10 of the self-described shy kids did.
Social phobia tends to appear during adolescence when kids take their first real steps toward independence, but there's little information about how often. The National Institutes of Health estimates it affects about 15 million adults.
The surveyed teens weren't formally diagnosed; Boston's Snidman cautions that what a specialist observes can be quite different from what a teen recalls.
Still, those identified as potentially socially phobic were more likely to have another mental health problem, such as depression or substance abuse. But they were no more likely than the other teens to be taking psychiatric medications.
There are anxiety-treating medications but the main treatment is behavioral therapy, exposing people very gradually to fear-inducing situations and teaching them coping techniques
What's a worried parent to watch for? This isn't standard stage fright, where you get sweaty palms before a speech but each one you do becomes easier. People with social anxiety disorder experience a more out-of-proportion fear that can make them shake, their hearts pound, or even cause a panic attack during a range of social situations. They start avoiding those scenarios.
The question is whether an anxious or shy teen is doing things typical of that age ? participating in class, getting together with friends, going to group activities, says Dr. Chris Mauro, a Duke University psychologist. Try to get them into a group, whether it's sports or music or Scouts, because belonging is protective, he says.
The NIH's Merikangas recommends keeping an eye on social media, too. Sure, it encourages electronic communication, but it may further isolate those already on that path, she says.
Teachers may notice a problem first, and shouldn't single out kids who won't participate in class but encourage them through group activities, she advises.

Earlier this week, both Democrat and Republican members of Congress expressed concern over privacy of users that browse the Web through the Amazon Silk browser on the currently unreleased Kindle Fire. Since the Kindle Fire uses less expensive hardware than a typical tablet, the split version of Silk sends all Web activity through the cloud-based Amazon Web Services and speeds up the process considerably. Page rendering and general processing of a Web page occurs in the cloud, thus the Kindle Fire doesn?t need to process the data. Officials in Congress are concerned about what data Amazon will retain about a user?s activities as well as how that data will be used in the future.
Rep. Ed Markey of?Massachusetts is the co-Chair of the Congressional Bi-Partisan Privacy Caucus and sent off a letter to?Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos regarding privacy concerns. Markey wants to know what Amazon plans to do with the data and if the company plans to sell or rent the data to third-party companies such as advertisers seeking to place ads on the Kindle Fire. Markey is also concerned about Amazon?s plans to convey the privacy policy to Kindle Fire users as well as the ability for new customers to opt into the?data sharing program. Amazon claims that all data collected through the split version of the Kindle Fire browser will be?anonymous?and only available in a bundled, collective form.
Users do have the ability to turn off the split version of the Silk browser and run the program as a traditional browser. However, running Silk as a traditional browser will significantly slow down the speed of leading Web pages. Since the split version of the browser is turned on by default when a consumer purchases the Kindle Fire, it?s highly unlikely that new users will opt for the slower version of the Silk browser.

WASHINGTON ? With just over a year left in the race for the White House, campaign finance reports released Saturday offered the first detailed look at the haves and the have-nots among the Republican presidential candidates.
Two of the top Republican contenders, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, brought in more than $14 million and $17 million respectively. Meanwhile, candidates like former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and businessman Herman Cain raised significantly less.
The financial reports show how flush some GOP candidates are with cash ? and how nearly broke others are ? heading into the final weeks before contests in key primary states. Reports on two of the biggest money-raisers so far ? Romney and President Barack Obama ? reveal millions in contributions from party devotees and small donors alike.
Reports filed late Friday offered a mixed financial picture of the field, with Obama raising more than $70 million between his campaign and the Democratic Party. At the same time, GOP candidates raised a combined $52.6 million, more than the $42 million Obama brought in through his campaign alone.
Other candidates are saddled with debt, such as former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann.
The reports didn't capture the tens of millions raised by new, outside groups known as super political action committees, which can collect unlimited amounts of money to influence elections. Leading contenders Perry and Romney have at least one super PAC each working to boost their candidacies, and another group is backing Obama's re-election bid.
Texas Rep. Ron Paul, a favorite among libertarians, collected $8.2 million, spent $7.5 million during the period and has no debt. Former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum reported raising more than $700,000 during the quarter, spent nearly $750,000 and owes about $70,000.
But some in the GOP field owe much more, particularly as their campaigns struggle to compete with big money that fuels increasingly expensive elections.
Gingrich owes the most among all candidates who have filed so far, with more than $1.1 million in debts for expenses like office supplies, direct mail and outside experts ? including $5,250 for a "Hispanic outreach consultant" and $724 for a "social media consultation." His campaign raised about $793,000 this period, about a third of which came from small donors.
Bachmann, a leading tea party figure, reported nearly $550,000 in debt after raising $3.9 million. Her expenses included more than $130,000 spent on chartered flights with Moby Dick Airways of Virginia. She also owes former campaign chair Ed Rollins about $30,000.
And while businessman Herman Cain's report said he raised $2.8 million and has $1.3 million in the bank, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO loaned his campaign $675,000, most of it borrowed in the spring.
Candidates with much more cash on hand means more money for advertising and overhead costs. But it also means more flexibility: Romney spent about $240,000 in private jets, although he has tweeted in the past about flying commercial on low-cost air carrier Southwest Airlines.
Romney, like his opponents, garnered support from small-dollar donors, drawing 80 percent of his contributions from checks less than $250. A former venture capitalist, he raised $18 million during the previous April-June period.

When marketing a business, the important thing consider is your business image. As much as possible, you want to show people how impressive, professional, and credible your image is. This will be the main point in determining whether people trust your business or not. For this reason, it is crucial that you develop your business image well. You have to show people that you are a trustworthy business that will give them the best value for their money.
The question now is how do you develop your business image? Is there an easy and affordable way to do that? There is, actually. If you take advantage of presentation folder printing, you can be sure to give customers and prospects a good overview of what your business can do. Presentation folders are actually a great way to organize your marketing materials so you present to a potential customer a systematized form of communication.
Presentation folders can hold different marketing materials such as business cards, brochures, samples, flyers, press kits, and product details. If these materials are arranged carefully inside the folder, your customers can have an organized way of knowing details about your business. However, it?s vital that you give your folder a customized look. Don?t just use a plain and store-bought folder as this won?t give your business a good image. It?s important that you create a folder that carry your logo, business name, and important company details that will present you professionally in front of customers and prospects.
If considering creating your own presentation folders, here?s what you need to keep in mind:
1- Design ? you need to create a catchy and interesting design so people will be attracted to your folder. You can include images or illustrations to boost the artistic appeal of your material. But you have to make sure that the design you create is perfect for your business image.
2- Layout ? it?s important that you put all elements at the right places. The logo has to be in a prominent place; the graphics or images not to large or small; and the texts occupying the right places. You can?t just put the texts and logo anywhere you like. Remember that your goal is to achieve good business image, and the placement of the design elements will play an important role in achieving that.
3- Size ? you can always stick with the standard size, which is 9 inches by 12 inches, or go for a customized size. The size of your presentation folder templates will basically depend on the type of materials and documents you will put inside. It would be best to determine first what marketing materials you will use so you can effectively set the size of your folder.
4- Paper stock ? as always, it is important that you make use of a sturdy paper stock. There are different types of paper available today. Ask your printer or designer the best type of paper to use if you don?t know which on to pick.
5- Printing ? be careful with the printing company you choose. Make sure it has a good track record so you can guarantee that your print job is in good hands. Do your homework and you can be sure to find the perfect printer fit for your printing job.
Well designed and printed custom presentation folder will surely give you a good business image when meeting new customers and attending conferences or trade fairs. So, why not create your own presentation folder today.

One common misconception about the Book of Mormon is that it was written by Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is actually a collection of testimonies and histories written by ancient prophets. Nephi, one of the ancient prophets who helped author the Book of Mormon, explains:
? 26 And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins.? ? 2 Nephi 25:26
The prophets recorded their testimonies and experiences so that their children would know where to find remission for their sins.
I have to admit, I?ve always loved this scripture. In the past, I?ve always loved it because of the first half ? where it says ?we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ.? Recently, however, I?ve started to notice the latter portion of the verse: ?And we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know?? I have four children, and am in the thick of motherhood. I have a testimony, and one of my greatest concerns is the development of the testimonies of my children. I want them to know Christ and how they can receive a remission of their sins.
Of course, in helping my children to develop their own testimonies, I can point them to the scriptures, and I do. This is accomplished through Family Home Evening, Family Scripture Study, Family Prayer, and church attendance. I love these moments that we spend together, but I?ve been feeling like I want to do something to really share my testimony with them.
So ? in the spirit of Family History ? and keeping a personal history, I have decided to begin keeping my spiritual personal history.
A quick digression (even though this post seems like it has been a complete digression). I have done a bit of family history work, and while I?ve felt a connection to the ancestors that I?ve done work for, I don?t really know any of them. I don?t have journals or stories. Well, let me take that back. I have one short personal history ? of my great-grandmother. In her history, she doesn?t tell much about her testimony or life. She relates a few things ? where she was born, the names of her siblings, the name of the store her father owned. Then, she spends a long time telling about the time she had a tapeworm! GROSS! I have always thought that this personal history is kind of funny. Of all the things that she wanted her posterity to know ? she related the tapeworm story?!
My tape-wormy great-grandma, (post tape-worm) and her husband (my great-grandpa)
Now, I have to wonder ? what kind of legacy am I leaving? What will my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren know about me? (I haven?t had tape-worms, so that?s out?)
I do keep journals. And they are embarrassing. I have at least 4 journals from my teenage years. Every entry mentions a different boy. Or two. (I thought I wasn?t boy-crazy!) As I?ve gotten older, my journals are marginally better, but they are still more about the troubles I have faced.
On another note, when I read Nephi?s words, I feel close to him. I feel like the selections he has included in the scriptures help me to understand a part of his Spiritual Development. I can see why he says that his soul delights in the scriptures ? throughout his experiences prior, he has used his knowledge of the scriptures as a source of courage. Nephi?s courage was based on Moses? courage. We see this development through the record he has kept.
While I don?t claim to be a scripture writer, I have thought that it would be a good idea to keep a Spiritual Personal History. I am making one copy for each of my children. I do not plan on giving these to my children until they are older. (I?m thinking that when they go to the temple they will get it).
So here?s what to do:
So, I encourage you to begin your own spiritual personal history! And if you?ve already done so, comment here with a few hints/tips!

Is cycling a sport just for men? No not at all. Looking at the changing cultures and evolving of integrated thinking, it is natural for even women to consider cycling as a sport like every other sport. Women have made their mark in many spheres and still continue to conquer. Even the realms of the cycling world have witness the women power handling the handle bars of the cycle not just on roads, even on the tracks on the hilly terrain. The spirit to achieve is what drives them to focus on the end point and to reach there as early as possible. Road biking definitely saw women cyclists making through the lanes, but they have taken up mountain biking too as a sport. Undoubtedly, mountain biking requires a lot of pressure to be exerted on and as women were not considered in the league of taking up physical tasks before, now that old fact is overrun by the new fact of women considering mountain biking seriously.
Cycle companies design and develop cycles for every age group and for varied body types; it may be men or women. While creating cycles for women, cycle companies need to keep many aspects in mind so that it suits various body types of women, since it does vary a lot from that of men. The frame of the cycle and the operation does matter, since physicality does matter with regard to cycling. Initially, women took up cycling as a medium of exercise. Since exercise was the factor that kept women on their toes, since shaping up the body and staying slim was the motive of every woman. Therefore, they considered cycling as the best option. Once they took up to cycling, they understood the various benefits it offered to them to not just shape their body, even to keep fit always.
Especially, for the women who found not time between the busy schedules of their working hours, taking care of the home and the daily needs, cycling was considered as the best devise that would provide them good exercise which they needed the most along with the option of shaping up their body structure. Since cycling offers good cardiac exercise, the interest for cycling grew amongst women, hence made them take up cycling more seriously, and this is when road biking and mountain biking came into consideration. It definitely surprised many, when women took up mountain biking. But it is the fact now, that women are creating history in this particular sport and cycle companies are manufacturing cycles especially for them after a lot of research done on the needs required by the women cyclists for this sport. Bicycle companies develop well designed bikes for women, with many elements taken into consideration, like power, cycle frame, color, height etc. for smooth and comfortable movement.

Make no mistake: Theo Epstein should not be leaving the Red Sox like this.?Not after one of the biggest September collapses in baseball history. Not one year after handing out $142 million for Carl Crawford and two years after giving John Lackey $82.5 million.
If Theo Epstein wanted to leave the Red Sox, he should have left them in better position than this.
It?s one thing to want a new challenge, but Epstein already had a challenge in front of him and he?s simply bailing on it.
And this isn?t like his leaving in 2005. That Theo appeared confused and uncertain of what he really wanted to do next. This Theo is picking a very similar Cubs?job over the Boston job. It?s going to be?much more difficult for Red Sox fans to accept.
Of course, it?s all forgivable against the two World Series victories. Helped by an ample payroll, Epstein put together playoff-caliber teams in all nine of his seasons as Red Sox GM. The only year the Red Sox were out of the race coming down the stretch was 2006, when the club was devastated by injuries.
But his exit after such a disappointing finish in 2011 leaves a sour taste. And with as many tough choices as the team is facing this winter ? particularly when it comes to free agents David Ortiz and Jonathan Papelbon ? Epstein may well be leaving the club in a worse position than the one he inherited nine years ago.
In the United States, nursing is considered one of the largest health care professions. There are more than 2.7 million registered nurses nationwide. Presently, the nursing industry is still growing at a fast pace, since nurses are the primary providers of hospital patient care and comprise a majority of the strength of hospital staff. Over the years, many nursing schools have flourished in different states and offer various types of nursing education.
When choosing among nursing programs, a student must carefully consider what kind of nurse they wants to be or how long they wants to go to school. For those who want to complete their education within a shorter period of time, taking an LPN degree may be the best way to start their nursing career. A basic requirement for admission in an LPN program is a high school diploma or GED. There are many community colleges, technical schools, private schools, and local hospitals that offer LPN programs.
Florence Nightingale established the Bellevue Hospital School of, New Dynasty Municipality which was founded in 1873, was the archetypal edifice of nursing in the United States to be supported on the principles of nursing. The period operated at Bellevue Hospital until its shutdown in 1969. One of the very primary nursing schools which constituted in the United States was the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing founded in 1889 in consultation with Florence Nightingale. The University of Minnesota was the premiere university based on nursing package. In 1923, in the United States, Yale School of Nursing became the premier sovereign school of the programme rather than on hospital function needs.. It had its own faculty, budget, dean, and degree meeting the standards of the University. In 1956, the Columbia University School of Nursing became the honours in the United States to parcel the master?s degree in a clinical specialty.
nursing schools supervise not only the licensed practical nurse, but also the nursing assistants. There are two possible options to becoming a registered nurse. The first option is by getting an associate degree in nursing, which only takes two years to finish. The second option is the bachelor?s degree in nursing, which takes four years to complete. Supervising and conducting research activities related to nursing are two of the main responsibilities of registered nurses. Whichever nursing education one chooses, there should be a willingness to give time, dedication, and concentration once enrolled in a nursing school. Those who have a full-time job might find the program difficult, especially as they advance through it. In general, courses covered are microbiology, anatomy, nutrition, pharmacology, pathology, physiology, psychology, surgical nursing, patient assessments, and math. Other subjects that may be included in the program are grieving or disaster preparedness.
Authorization of nursing schools by these organizations help improving the resources, processes, and results of nursing schools. It also helps monitor the certificate, diploma, and degree offerings in nursing science, which is in close relation with state examination and licensing rules. Although schools that are registered by either of the organizations are acceptable, its advisable that students look for registered nursing schools that are recognized by both the organizations.

Squash enthusiasts will now have the chance of enjoying the sport they love in the comfort of their own homes following the launch of?WSF Squash, the official squash simulation video game of the?World Squash Federation.
Using the most modern software and hardware, the game is a realistic representation of the sport with great tactical aspects ? and all shots can be played, including drives, corkscrews, boasts and more. Players can also play online matches against each other, or play at iconic locations ? and an offline tournament mode allows users the chance to organise virtual tournaments during real events.
It is easy to connect wireless controllers to the game and link to a big screen, so that squash clubs can host a virtual event. Details of this are available from the game?s dedicated website?www.wsfsquash.com ? where a trailer, screenshots, and more, can also be seen.
There are 12 real top squash players in the game. Users can choose between four different top tournaments at iconic locations ? either selecting their favourite player or creating their own player, choosing equipment, skin colour, hair colour, posture, playing style, etc.
Following four years of development,?WSF Squash will be launched at the beginning of November.
?For me, Squash is a much faster, aggressive, raw and also responsive game than, for example, tennis,? said Team6 Games CEO?Ronnie Nelis. ?For WSF Squash, gamers will not only need to have much faster reflexes than for any other sports game, but they will also even have to think about their strategy during the game. All this made a very good reason for us to make a game that nobody dared to make before.?
WSF President Mr?N Ramachandran commented: ?Our hope, of course, is that in endorsing this game we will see a significant number of newcomers to squash trying it ? who may then feel that they would like to try the real thing on court, and boost grass-roots numbers as a result.?
The game can be pre-ordered with 35% discount as an introduction offer only till the 31st of October for 1st November distribution.
There are further plans to develop the game for Nintendo Wii and xBox.
